These are photographs of chemicals the sheriff's office recently seized during the investigation of a methamphetamine lab in the county. The manufacturing process involves the use of these and other chemicals which are then ingested when the methamphetamine lab produces "meth". The meth is ingested through placing the powered product in pills, snorting, and injection. In years past methamphetamine went by the name "crank". A more refined procedure in the production of methamphetamine yields a smokable form of "meth" called "ice". In all its forms, methamphetamine is highly addictive and causes sever medical complications in the body. Adverse effects include severe weight loss, aggressive behavior, fatal lung and kidney disorders, and long-lasting psychological problems characterized by paranoia and hallucinations. In addition, "ice" can cause increased blood pressure and heart rate, abnormal heartbeats, heart attacks, strokes, convulsions, and coma.
