Illegal drug use is the number one cause of crime in Crawford County. It has been estimated that 80% - 85% of all crimes can be attributed to substance abuse. This includes "street drugs" such as marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, and their derivatives, as well as abused prescription medications and alcohol. The Crawford County Sheriff's Office is initiating new strategies to help reduce the effects and costs of substance abuse on our citizens. One of the first steps is to educate adults and youth alike on the drugs being seized in the county and the effects and costs of these drugs. As we gather updated information about the current drugs of choice, we'll pass along what we're learning through this website, other published media, and talks to civic organizations, churches, youth groups, and the school system.
